[Speak Up Lesson] 13 Oct. 2023
2 min. Speech: Talk about the last flight or memorable flight

I don't remember about the last flight, so I will talk about my most memorable flight.
the flight was from PEI to New York, and transit at Halifax.
Halifax airport was nice. It was smooth to do the formalities of departure from Canada and entry to US. Also, there is a comfortable hotel next to the airport.
However, flight company was not good. I was waiting in front of the gate of the United, but no body was coming. There was only the screen that my flight was delayed.
I was really worried because I had never faced these accidents before.
Several hours later, the staff came and another flight was coordinated. They also gave me a free ticket to get a hotel room and breakfast.
As a result, I could go to New York, but I went to Toronto once and I did the formalities the departure and entry again.
Next time, I have to choose another flight company.

Reading: Tik Tok trend causes laxative shortage in USA
https://breakingnewsenglish.com/2309/230914-laxative-shortage-m.pdf

[Summary]
In the US, there is a nation-wide shortage of laxatives. There are a number of factors that can be cited, such as aging society and not eating enough fiber, but one of contributing factor is social media influencers talk that laxatives can help you lose weight.
Of course, there is no scientific evidence that laxatives will help have lose weight, and even if you momentarily seem to have lose weight, it can only be due to a decrease in "water weight". Taking unnecessary laxatives can also cause side effects.
However, this unreliable information has become so widespread among young people that it has even become a trend on TikTok, causing people to run out of stock of laxatives. This means that the drugs are not reaching the people who need them, such as people suffering from constipation, Crohn's disease, and IBS.
Doctors recommend eating fruits and vegetables and exercising as a healthy and individual way to lose weight rather than taking laxatives.
Most of that influencers say is someone’s poo, so it's best not to trust them.

[Opinion]
I want to applaud because there are too many idiots who are believing the influencers say seriously and buying laxatives all at once, it's same as Japan.
As usual, I read a few other articles, and I had turn-off by knowing that there are various videos on TikTok suggesting to mix powder of laxatives in a lot types of food.
In the first place, Americans are not consuming fibre and using the coronavirus as an excuse to not exercise, which is why they are constipated and need laxatives, so they are buying them.
There are some Americans who say, “Potatoes are vegetables”, and eat fries and chips like crazy, but I think eating a salad will make their bowels feel a little better.
When I googled it in Japanese, I found an article from many years ago that said, “You can't lose weight with laxatives'', so it's probably something that people from all over the world would want to try at least once.
Even if people especially you take laxatives to lose weight because you want to look cute, you won't lose weight, your skin will become irritated, you'll damage your stomach and intestines before you know it, and in severe cases, you'll end up developing other illnesses, so you're putting the cart before the horse.
That's why you should eat more dietary fibre and exercise now!
Even though I don't exercise, and I have mild IBS, so I have to do it myself before telling anyone else.
